Kim's Drummer Dream

At age 27,  Kim's little sister Kristine was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She spent most of her adult life unfairly battling this cruel disease. Yet, while her body has left her physically unable to function properly, her love and optimism have soared! 

Kristine is Kim's inspiration. 

Watching her struggle yet always support others revealed to Kim the true power of love and caring and making the most of every day.  Her amazing strength has given her strength! And purpose! She wants to be like her little sister and care for others deeply - 

and to be part of something bigger than herself.

" I want to make some kind of difference in this world." 

Kim was the longtime owner of Katie's Spa in Lapeer. Once she retired from owning and managing that business, she knew she had to take part in another adventure that would benefit the community. Kim, who was an aerobics instructor, became involved in drumming. 

"Drumming is such a great way to get the body moving but also have fun and fellowship with the other drummers in the room," KIm said. "I'm excited to offer drumming classes in Lapeer. I know people will fall in love with this unique way to have fun while getting fit! "

Kim has always wanted the best for Lapeer County. She was a member of the Lapeer County Community Foundation's Women's Fund for many years. That organization provides educational scholarships to women needing help pursuing their dreams. She also heads the charity 100,000 tassels (100000tassels.com). 

 100000 Tassels is a unique organization. It plans to give away $100,000 to Lapeer-area charities and groups in various increments. This money can help the community become more “well” in so many ways. like assisting The Refuge or the Youth Advisory Committee make Lapeer a better community for all.  Of course, there’s more to this than just giving away money.
